Bike the Trail offers two cycling route options to all our riders. You will start at Harcourt Park, Upper Hutt, riding on the Hutt River Trail and can choose to either finish at the Riverbank Carpark in Lower Hutt or turn around at Poet's Park, Upper Hutt and cycle back up to Harcourt Park.
- Harcourt Park to Riverbank Carpark is 21km one way
- Harcourt Park to Poet's Park to Harcourt Park is 12km return
Register online from 8 December 2023 to 23 February 2024 and receive a 10% discount off all bike servicing services from Get Fixed Bicycle Cafe, Upper Hutt. You can wait and register on the day, but only pre-registered participants will be eligible for the discount.
The start time will be staggered to reduce everyone’s waiting time. Riders who want to ride quickly will start first, while those who would like to take their time, look at the scenery and may be riding with younger children have the option to start later. You choose which start group is best for you during registration.
Make sure you arrive at least 30 minutes before your group starts to check in at the registration desk and attend the event briefing. There's great coffee, bike mechanics to check your bike, and plenty of activities at both the start and finish locations.
For riders who choose to do the 21km ride to Riverbank Carpark, we do have the option of free transport back up to Harcourt Park, leaving Riverbank Carpark at staggered time between 11.30am and 3pm. If you would like to just do a one-way ride down to Riverbank Carpark and hop onto our free transport back up to Harcourt Park, please make sure you select that option when you register.
