Bike the Trail is a fun, family day out and an opportunity to ride the beautiful Hutt River trail in a fully supported event with great company.

Follow the flow of the water from Upper Hutt to the mouth of the river at Seaview.  Your group can start at Harcourt Park in Upper Hutt and ride the full 25km distance, or start in Stokes Valley for a 12km journey.

Harcourt Park

Harcourt1

This event is very popular, and this year the Harcourt Park start will be staggered to reduce everyone’s waiting time.

Faster groups will have an earlier start, while slower groups can take their time and sleep in a little longer.

Les Mills are running warm ups prior to the start for all groups.  Make sure you arrive 15 minutes before your group starts for the event briefing and warm up.

Rapid Riders (Start 9.50am)

Your group will ride the whole trail in less than 2.5 hours.  You’re fairly fit and ride regularly, and don’t plan to stop much on your journey.

Cruising It (Start 10.10am)

Riding the trail will take you between 2.5 and 3.5 hours.  You’re taking your time, taking in the views, and may have some stops to stretch and refresh yourselves or take some photos.

Picnic Pack (Start 10.30am)

You’re riding with younger children or less confident riders.  You plan to relax, enjoy the journey, have some snacks, and it’s likely to take you at least 3.5 hours.

Stokes Valley

Stokes

All riders will start from 11am in groups and make their way down the River Trail to finish in Hikoikoi Reserve.

From the Finish

A finish line atmosphere will be in place at Hikoikoi Reserve, with finish photos, music, a chill zone, coffee and barbeque.  Make sure you bring some cash for refreshments.

Finish

You can rack your bike for transport on finishing, and take some time to relax in the sun before taking your own bus back to the start.

Free transport is provided for bikes and people from Hikoikoi Reserve back to both start points from 12pm.  Bikes will be continually transported back to a secure racked area in Harcourt Park and Stokes Valley.
